Rewrote web page creation program

I rewrote the web page creation program. This should make it easier to add features to the program. I added some pictures to the Reynolds Family Genealogy site.

I wrote an FTP program in Python to increase the speed of uploading files. Files should be in mode 755 before uploading.

List of Names

Added a page with a list of all names in the database. Corrected a few simple errors in the pages. The hosting service, awardspace.com, is working quite well.

Writing code

I have spent several days writing computer code in the programming language Python. I created a program to generate web pages for my website. I am using a Linux program called Gramps to manage the genealogy database, which is a Gedcom file. I use my program to generate the webpages to upload to the site. I have 50 people currently in the database, which means my program generates 50 webpages. I use a Linux program called gFTP to upload the files. It took me quite sometime to find a web page template that I liked and I could alter to my liking. Some of the templates were not stable once I made a few changes to them. But, this template seems quite stable and can be easily modified. The link to my website is http://reynolds-family.awardspace.com/ I like the looks and the action of the webpages. Now, I just need folks to send me some data on the folks I have on those pages.

John Calvin Reynolds

I have been able to trace the Tobe Reynolds family back to his father John Calvin Reynolds. I have not been able to go back further. Also, I have traced Ellen "Griffin" Reynolds back to her father John Griffin.

If anyone has any further information on the Tobe or Ellen Reynolds lineage, I would appreciate hearing from you.

It seems sad that so many of our relatives have lived and died and we know so little about them. This is a history lost in time. Unless we make an effort to preserve some vestiges of the past, then we will lose that past. There are so many human characteristics that are inherited. Without a knowledge of the characteristics of our ancestors, we fail to see the parallels of our characteristics to those people in our past and we lose that bit of understanding.
